The Bruery Tasting Room

The Bruery Tasting Room Orange County

Since moving back to Orange County from San Diego a couple of months ago, I found myself craving the experience of drinking beer in the place it was made. That is until, I took the twenty minute trip north to The Bruery in Placentia.

Like many of the great breweries in California, the entrance is through a warehouse sized door in an industrial business center, however once inside, it’s easy to forget where you are entirely. The first thing you’ll noticed are the stacks and stacks of barrels all of which, full with amazing aging beer. During my first visit, Black Tuesday was aging and since then those barrels were replaced by Oude Tart (complete with a “critters added list” including brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and more).

There’s something really cool about having a pint next to beer you’ll be drinking someday but aside from that, there’s also brewing and bottling equipment everywhere, personable bartenders and a chalkboard menu (a telltale sign of a good rotation). They also have one of the best taster flights deals that I have ever seen.

For $8 you get 5 bottle caps which can be redeemed for 2 oz pours and to top it off, you get to keep the glass (a nice snifter style glass that has appeared on this blog before). If the line is long, or you know what you want (*ahem* Batch 300), you can always get beer by the glass starting at $4. Quality flip-top growlers are also available for $10 with fills ranging from $12 and up but unfortunately only for select beers. You can also purchase 750ml bottle’s including selections from the Provisions Series such as Tart of Darkness and Run B.M.C.

The tasting room is open every Friday & Saturday from 4 pm – 10 pm and Sunday from noon – 6 pm. Each Friday afternoon they send out an email announcing what will be on tap for the weekend so make sure you visit their website and sign up for their mailing list. Ever been to The Bruery tasting room? Share your experience in the comments and next time you’re there, look for me!
