Pliny the Younger Orange County Watch 2012

Pliny the Younger Orange County

February is a special time of the year for any beer lover, and no I’m not talking about anything “V related”. Over the span of two weeks, hundreds, if not thousands, of beer enthusiasts line up outside of Russian River Brewing Company with the hope of tasting the all elusive and ever scarce, Pliny the Younger.

Orange County is fortunate enough to be a part of Pliny the Younger’s yearly distribution but that doesn’t mean finding it will be easy or quick. Year after year, craft beer bars experience huge lines of thirsty beer geeks at the slightest mention of “Younger”. This area will be no exception but if you’re willing to brave out the elements (current temperature: 73° and sunny), I’ll do my best to help you find a pour.

Inspired by San Diego Beer Blog’s, Pliny the Younger in San Diego 2012 post, this is Orange County’s guide to finding Pliny the Younger in 2012.

Tustin Brewing Company – Wednesday February 15th at 3 pm. Tickets will be sold starting at 1 pm and you can start  lining up at noon. Also starting on Monday the 13th, they’ll be tapping 6 different Russian River beers throughout the week including of course, Pliny the Elder.

Anthill Pub & Grille – Saturday February 18th at 7 pm. Tickets are being sold at the door which will get you a 5 oz pour for $4.

Hollingshead’s Deli – Monday February 20th at 10 am. First come, first served. Consider getting there early.

Beachwood BBQ – Raffle Tickets are being sold to help fight cancer at $5. A winning ticket gets you a pour starting February 20th.

Selma’s Tap Room Rancho Santa Margarita – Monday February 20th. As a reward to their regular patrons, they’ve decided to keep this locations keg “invite only” although I’m sure if you stick around long enough, you may be able to score yourself a glass.

Haven Gastropub – Monday February 20th at 11am, the first 100 people will be able to get an 8 oz pour. Details are still being worked out so expect more info as we get closer to that date.

Crow Bar – Tuesday February 21st  at 3 pm Update: My mistake, They won’t be taking reservations so don’t bother blowing up their phone line.

Selma’s Tap Room Ladera Ranch – Monday February 27th at 6 pm. First come, first served. Includes one 8 oz pour and a Selma’s t-shirt with a Pliny the Younger logo on it.

Slater’s 50/50 Anaheim Hills – Thursday March 8th at 11 am. One pour per person, $7 for 8 oz, and of course…. first come, first served. They’re also having an “IPA Day” at the same time so you’ll be able to compare PtY to a slew of similarly hoppy beers.

I’ll be keeping this list update this list as more information comes in. Follow us on twitter for constant updates. If know when or where Pliny the Younger is getting tapped, send an email to to help your fellow beer lovers.
